The membership of the Church of Jesus Christ of LatterDay Saints, headquartered in Salt Lake City, however, includes approximately 90 percent of all individuals in the United States who refer to themselves as Mormons (Melton 481495). For the purpose of this research, therefore, a Mormon is defined as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of LatterDay Saints.
