The mission Santa Cruz de San Saba was light-emitting diode by the three Spanish priests to preach Christianity and to take control over Texas. The mission was located along the upper San Saba River which is now Menard County in the Central Texas. Few of the survivals led by Juan Leal escaped the burning church at night and went to Presidio while the Indians were celebrating their victory. Eventually the mission was abandoned. Spain was trying to settle down and make the vast area of Texas productive. Spanish were also interested in Christianizing the Indians and to develop and exploring the mineral resources.
