The polygraph test has been the just about widely put ond method of detecting deception for everywhere a century. The legal community, however, has focused on determining the scientific aspect of the test. Skeptics say that the test has too many factors that stick with into play, and therefore the test cannot be completely factual iodin hundred percent of the time. If the test is not factual, can it be admissible in court? Doesnt the fact that the polygraph has been luck law enforcement get the bad guy for decades?
As first as 1730 a British novelist Daniel Defoe wrote an essay called An Effectual dodging for the Immediate Preventing of Street Robberies and Suppressing all Other disorders of the Night, where he imp lyingd that taking the pulse of a suspect to check his midpoint swan was a practical and humane way to disunite if he were guilty. This was an early and very insightful suggestion to merged medical science in the fight against crime.
The first use of a scientific instrument designed to measure physiologic responses for the purpose of detecting deception was in 1895 by Italian physician, and pioneer criminologist, Cesare Lombroso modified an existing instrument called a hydrosphygmogragh so that it would measure the physiological changes that occurred n a suspects blood pressure and pulse rate during an interrogation.
In 1906, Sir pile Mackenzie refined his previous clinical polygraph model of 1892, by qualification the clinical ink polygraph which made interpreting the results much easier. It has been verbalise that the modern polygraph is just a modification of Dr. Mackenzies clinical ink polygraph.
In 1921 John Larson, a Canadian psychologist who worked for the Berkeley police Department of California, developed what is known as the original lie detector when he incorporated the measurement of respiration rate to that of blood pressure.
