Consequentialism is the flavour that the morality of an action depends on the consequence. Meaning an action is chastely well behaved if the case is positively charged and morally wrong if the outcome is bad. To understand the consequentialist theories, it is necessary to understand the distinction between indispensable regard as, extrinsic value, and intrinsic disvalue. A thing has intrinsic value if it is valuable in itself-- apart from any otherwise consideration, including considerations of its effects. A thing has extrinsic value in virtue of its depicted object to produce something of value.
