The Wizard of Oz as made popular by original Fleming, is rich in non however visual vividness yet also in allegory. Oddly enough the only two people that are missing with in Oz are mirrored versions of the closest people to Dorothy, her Auntie Em and Uncle Henry. along with the unsettling absence of the parental units a new main actors line is added with in Oz, Glinda. I feel that Dorothy goes through a journey of maturation meeting men with in her life that mirrors those of real relationships. A submissive Scarecrow, a emotionless Tin Man, and an dim Lion. All and all, I believe the general overview of the film is correct, that Dorothys visit to Oz is a metaphor for her maturation and growth! from a child to a woman.
