Most of the book Catch 22,is written in a path that makes even the worst possible things, seem strange and entertaining. During this partitioning of the book, Yossarian goes to Rome to run to runaway from the war. When he showtime gets there he realizes that Rome is a very different place because of the new Catch-22 saying that they [solider] have a honest to do anything we cant stop them from doing (hellion 407). This Catch-22 is a recover that the women hate, because the soldiers be constantly taking advantage of them.
The heart of this part in the book is much different then the tone from the previous parts of the book. Many times throughout this percentage the author refers to the atrocious things that the people are doing to the women and how the people are being treated. This is the first time during the book that devil refers to the feelings of the other people and doesnt just think about the way things look, or the comical part of events, that may be perceived to be funny by the reader or other viewer, but in the real world, are not funny.
Heller also refers to the colors and the darkness of everything more then he did in the past. For instance, he keeps referring to the weather and how it is gloomy and dark.
The broad, raining color in boulevard was illuminated every half-block by the short lampposts with eerie, shimmering glares b rove by smoky brown mist (Heller 414). The way that Heller refers to the weather also gives an idea to the reader that this is not a nice place.
The reason why Heller changes his tone in the book so drastically is to show the changes in Yossarians emotions as well. When Yossarian is in Rome seeing all of the horrible things that he sees, he finally realizes that these Catch-22s are bad, and how even though he thought that his look was horrible while he was in war, it wasnt as bad as life in Rome.If you want to get a full essay, order it on our website: Orderessay
